The shopping is good and the people are lovely (that's just me, I'm lovely, only me). There are lots of little places of interest you can discover (the market on Saturday morning is worth the early rise) for yourself and in general, there's a very relaxed atmosphere in the city.

And as for Angela's Ashes, its set in the 30s and 40s, when naturally the place was a lot different to what its like now.
