Here in the USA, we're used to different dialects. If your pronunciation is correct, there's no problem. Pronunciation (not spelling) examples include: Halloween or Holloween; you all or y'all.

What I don't like is when people butcher the language and make up words. When I hear that I do tend to think less of a person.

Maybe. Depends on which word. If you say worsh when you mean wash, then yeah. But if you'd say ad-VER-tisment instead of AD-vertisement, then your pronunciation would sound cooler than mine.
