I just finished the sixth one today.

A Horcrux is an object in which a piece or a person's soul is placed by the person, but only after murdering someone, because it's a horrific act. The idea is, if a wizard, (or witch) is killed, then they still have the piece of their soul to rely on, and they won't die. Voldemort made six Horcruxes because seven is an extremely powerful number, and the six Horcruxes which held parts of his soul plus the one he carried equaled seven, which would further ensure immortality. Dumbledore found and destroyed one Horcrux, (the Slytherin ring) Ginny found the another, (the diary...which Harry destroyed.) And Dumbledore and Harry found another one, only it turned out not to be the real thing, because it had already been stolen by someone else with the intials R.A.B.

Thank you, Thank you.

The Horcruxes

1. DIARY - destroyed
2. RING - destroyed
3. Slytherin's LOCKET - unknown where & IF destroyed yet (I think it has)
4. Hufflepuff's CUP - unknown whereabouts
5. Nagini - wherever Voldie stashed her
6. Something of Ravenclaw's OR Gryffindor's - unknown What & Where (Something of Ravenclaw's is more likely)

Rules of a Horcrux

1.Object must be collectible, as a trophy and chosen with some care
2. Object must have a powerful Magical history
3. Objects that, in themselves, have a certain grandeur

Jo has said the sorting hat is not a horcrux, because horcruxes do not call attention to themselves. Even though Harry does not call attention to himself, he has a lot of attention on him. I doubt he would make a good horcrux.

Harry is basically a half blood, and ol' Voldy wouldn't consider him good enough to hold a part of his soul.

Professor Slughorn told Voldemort when he was in Hogwarts about Horcruxes, when Voldemort was still Tom Riddle.

Tom Riddle is now Voldemort and he has seven horcruxes, a few of them destroyed. Horcruxes are DARK magic.

You can cut up your soul into pieces and put them into items and then that piece of your soul is in that item and Harry must destory all of them and then destory Voldemort to kill Voldemort for real

(I bet if I was talking to Hagrid, Ron, or anybody else in the wizarding world *besides Dumbledore and Harry* they would be yelling "STOP SAYING THE NAME!"
