This has always worked for me. Try drinking a hot cup of tea with honey in it. It soothes the soarness. If it continues though you should probably go see the Doc.

There are a couple of things...first zinc lozenges work really well. Also you can gargle with warm salt water (as warm as you can handle it). Make sure you gargle a few times...finish the glass. It will help kill the germs causing the sore throat. It is an irrigation method. And for immediate relief...I always take a couple of Advil. Works every time.

I always gargle with warm, salty water. About a teaspoon. This relieves much of the soreness. When I get a sore throat it's usually the beginning of a cold.

Drink plenty of filtered water, organic (no sugar added) juices, hot teas, broths. Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup always made my throat feel better. My mom always made me gurgle warm salty water, no too much salt. It works too! Also raw organic honey placed in the back of your throat will soothe the pain and speed the healing. When your over this cold, try to watch your diet. Make sure your getting enough of the juices i listed above, and especially make sure you get your water.

Definitely hot/warm tea. Anything to help your throat stay moist -- cough drops, gum, hard candy. I also take 1000 mg of vitamin C a day when I am sick.
