What do you mean by plain guppies? Wild strain guppies?
Most guppies commonly available are the coloured type, called 'fancy guppies,' and in fact you don't really see anything else but that anywhere. All petstores will carry guppies, from large chains like Petsmart, PetCo, Walmart, to smaller specialty stores. Any petstore you visit will have them.
If you're looking for wild strain guppies, you will need to contact a dealer. Ask at your local fish store if they can order them in for you.

Plain guppies are often sold as feeder fishes in petsmart, wallmart, etc.

many pet stores sell them, walmarts and maijers are starting to carry them in some of their locations
