John Lennon wrote: "life is just what happens to you when you're busy making other plans". I think that God wants us to aspire to make something of ourselves, yet one of the great mysteries of the world is how our plans often are derailed by things out of our control: The unseen event. God allows us a choice in our reactions to the world, and is probably laughing at my answer right now.

I love that, because it really is true. We can sit here and make plans all day and think we've got everything figured out, but we really don't. For example, I planned on going to college in another state and becoming an X-ray tech. I just knew that's exactly how it was going down, so much so that I already picked out the city and hospital I wanted to be in. But, a year and a half later, after failing physics and losing my scholarship, I'm back home and earning a teaching degree. I know God had a hand in it because it all worked out for the better. We can only have goals, because you never know what might happen.

that means that there is no way to possibly plan out your life... there are so many things that can pop up at last minute.... I know this is true- think about all of the teen-mothers out there that had high goals and had to halt their dreams a little. Think about all of the people who just one day get fired from their job because of down-sizing. You shouldn't plan out your life- instead you should have goals. Goals are attainable and if you have goals then you will never give up on your dreams. God knows this, that is why he laughs...

In showing him your plan...you are leaving his will out of it. You are basically telling him what you plan to do...period. If he is laughing it is because He may have a different plan for you!!!
In showing him your goals...you are sharing what your objectives of your life plan are and asking him for guidance to help you reach and attain those goals.
So "If we ask...so shall we receive" but "If we tell.....we may get what we wished for but it will be subject to failure because it is totally based on our own will and without His guidance."

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray."
I believe that God's plans differ greatly from ours, and He will do what it takes to get his plans done. But, goals show character and growth and God, as the Father, wants to see that we have ambitions and want to do something meaningful with our lives.

I don't know much about God, and am not inclined to give opinions about what God would do.
But, I will tell you my opinion about "plans" and "goals"... they are connected. Everyone has them.

If its too His glory then so be it. Its all about reaping and sowing. Simple principle that God set forth Himself. I think I will follow His plan. What is your opinion?

He's the one in charge, not us. To get to our goals isn't based on a plan that can change in a blink of an eye.
