My sis and I wait until midnight and open one gift from each other. It was a huge thing when we were young because we were allowed to stay up late, now we do it because we always have. Funny how repetition works...

Of course!
We are french canadian so the most unique things are around that culture and heritage.
We set up a "crèche," or Nativity scene, with "santons," or plaster figures, depicting Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. That is very very important. We always have that right under the tree or out in a prominent place.
We always go to Midnight Mass and then have a "réveillon" (which means "awakening" in French), for Christmas Eve after the mass has ended. It is usually at one relatives house- and we have drinks! When I was a kid, I remember that being one of the only times I ever saw my father drink- whiskey ! Yuk.
On Chirstmas, a MUST is the stocking- with an orange in the toe.
FOr dinner we have turkey, goose or beef and a holiday "tourtière," which is a traditional meat pie. We are a Quebec family, so it is pure pork meat, where the Montreal pie has a mix of pork and beef. We also always have the buche de Noel- also known as the chocolate Yule log.

My mom always goes and buys new ornaments every Christmas since me and my other siblings were smaller. So when we have our own family we get them to put on our tree. I think its really sweet!

We go out ski-dooing all day and watch movies with hot chocolate after.
