...to think deeper then themselves or the world around them? I mean are they afraid of something or are they just not capable of this kind of thinking?

Some are just not capable, some think they are better and don;t need to and some just rather insult. Look around and you will find some who are willing..

How many conversations can we have without saying the word "I"? Are you mad because somebody didn't want to give an in depth answer to your question? Are you speaking of someone specific? What is the deep issue to be discussed? Some of us would love to get into a deep spiritual or intellectual discussion. But your question is only insulting "some people" who like to talk about the "lighter" issues. There's nothing wrong about joking around. We can't be philosophical all the time. Where's the fun in that?

Some people are unable to think of anything other than themselves and within their inner circle. I don't know if it's selfishness or just not having what it takes to see other than themselves.

Part of the problem is cultural. In American culture there is no foresight beyond one generation.

Another aspect is the material nature of most peoples. They desire material not the intellectual.

Most of us just dont care. Why cant people stop with the poor me and get off their azzes and do soemthing for themselves instead of expecting people like me to take care of them.
