I saved the file on my usb key but my key got toasted afterwards. Last week I worked on the file and I'm trying to get it back somewhere on my windows xp pc.

Generally speaking, unless you run some sort of nightly backup - you won't have a backup!

Possibly the best best is to recover the file from the USB memory stick.

You can try to recover the deleted file on your Microsoft Windows XP machine, but if you deleted it last week then the chances are quite low.

You can try with something like this file recovery program:

ftp://ftp2.convar.com/pcinspector/pci_filerecovery.exe

Good luck!

It's possible it's in the "My Documents" folder. Look for the "MY DOCUMENTS" icon on your desktop. If it's not there, then click the start button on the bottom left side of your desktop. Look for the MY Documents icon in the right hand column and click twice to open. If it's not there, then use the Search function. This is also found in the right hand column. Search for files and folders on computer. Type in a word from the title. Place to search is your hard drive (c) and click search or find. Good Luck. Lesson to be learned here. Always Always save things to your hard drive first and then back them up on a CDR or CDRW.

doesn't happen automatically. you have to go to > Tools > Options > Save . the back-up copy is made in the same directory as the original so you have to get into the habit of saving it elsewhere.
