No. The best defense is a good offense. This has been proved countless times throughout history. Any new defense will eventually be overcome by a new form of attack. The best way to protect ourselves is to aggressively eliminate our enemies.

"Welcome to Fortess America - SORRY - All valuable metals have been cut up and resold to nations arming either for direct conflict with the USA or through backdoor wars in little third world tyrant states. All potential hazardous materials have been removed, handled, and stored at ridiculous cost in some place no safer than where they found them. Any remaining structure or space has been given away to developers and foreign corporations. Any sources of energy, water, food or raw material resources have been converted back into usable form for benefit of endangered (non-human)species. What remains is this sign. In case of attack, shelter in place behind sign, with knees between legs and kiss it goodbye. Be secure knowing that your government leaders are safe and will survive. Have a nice day."
