The majority? Where on earth do you live? I think people are very giving and friendly this time of year.
Christ is our Savior. We all need to get on our knees and sing "Halleluiah - HE is coming".

For the same reason that people want to take Christ out of Christmas, the world is full of carnal people. It is important to remember not only at Christmas but all year round why we were put on this Earth and how we got here, if you don't know I would advise you to pick up a bible and see for yourself.
Christmas should be primarily about giving and not receiving.

Because "2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away" (2 Tim 3:2-5). It's rampant, and all year long...it just surfaces now during one of the greediest, self-centered times of the year.

It's not necessarily just this time of the year.....they're pretty much shallow year around.

cuz we take narcissism to a new level when pressure is put on us. The way christmas is commercialized these days is sad.
