Medicine or not, it should let you grow your own, if it is unwilling to provide you with health insurance.
As with anything, a nice balance could be achieved, where people would be allowed to grow marijuana, smoke it, even sell it (well regulated). But just like with alcohol, no one should be able to drive while high, as it puts other in danger, and if they do so, their freedom to smoke should be curtailed. The same goes if they have to commit crimes to finance their habit (which is pretty unlikely unless they are smoking enough to wipe themselves out within a couple years).
Will the government ever change the law? Probably not, unless our currently rising generation has enough non-hypocritical ex-smokers to push for change.

Well, as a person with chronic health problems, I think that even if you DID have health insurance, you should be allowed to grow your own medicine.
I live in a state where medical marijuana is legal, and I probably qualify, but I really don't want my name on a government list like that, you know?

Two separate themes here.
Marijuana and the "Drug War". The government should stay out of peoples lives unless those people are harming others. If one wants to harm themselves that is their own business.
Not having "affordable" access to health care. Get off your butt, stop whining and go earn enough to fund your own healthcare. Just as the government should not tell you what substances you should or shouldn't put in your own body. They shouldn't take my or anyone elses hard earned money to pay for your lazy a s s.

I WILL PAY YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE WHEN YOU START PAYING MY HOUSE PAYMENT...SHELTER HAS TO BE AT LEAST AS IMPORTANT AS HEALTH INSURANCE.... THE KEY WORD IN YOUR QUESTION IS "GIVE." THAT INDICATES A VERY STRONG LIB BIAS I.E. EVERYTHING THAT I DONT WANT TO PAY FOR SHOULD BE FREE. SO ABOUT 40 MILLION AMERICANS DONT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE. THAT LEAVES 260 MILLION THAT DO. I ASSURE YOU THEY ARE ALL NOT WEALTHY....BY A LONG SHOT. YOUR THEORY IS THAT THE ONES THAT PAY FOR IT SHOULD ALSO PAY FOR THOSE WHO CANT OR WONT PAY FOR IT. THATS BEING DONE ALREADY...THOSE FOLKS THE HOSPITALS TREAT FOR FREE GET THEIR MONEY BACK BY CHARGING MORE FROM THOSE WHO ACTUALLY DO PAY THEIR WAY. SOMEBODY PAYS. PERIOD.

You can't grow your own or rob a pharmacy, but you can contact the supplier of your medications and they will get the meds to you.If your meds come in a generic form go to your local Walmart and pick em' up for $4.

Sure!
Also, the government won't give me a car. Does that mean I can build a rocket in my yard and fire it off, for transportation?
