Looks like the budget for the Gophers' new on-campus stadium is going to run over. And Minnesotans are so reluctant to spend tax money on stadiums anyway, why can't the Vikings just play in the Gophers' stadium? Is it just pride?

One thing would be the Twins need an actual baseball stadium not a dome. The Vikings have a great home feild advantage at the metro dome but it would never be picked for the site for a super bowl which would result in a lot of money. I don't know about the Gophers and Vikings thing but it could be kind of hard to have a game on back to back days. Plus the twins will never get to have an all star game in the metro dome.

The big problem now is that the Gophers, Vikings, and Twins all play in the same stadium. And if the Twins make the playoffs, it screws both the Gophers and the Vikings in terms of schedules.

Could be that the Vikings couldn't get exclusive rights to sell advertising and seats in the new Gophers Stadium. Without that, the Vikings wouldn't be able to take full advantage of what other NFL franchises have been able to do to maximize their revenue in their new stadiums.

At least, with both the Twins and Gophers out of the Metrodome, the Vikes could then do their own remodeling (PSLs, sky boxes) and sell the space in the Dome and keep most of the revenue money to themselves.
