my sister has had these kind of fish for years and since im starting an aquarium id like to have one. But id first like to know what other kinds of fish you can put with them. I want a kind of exotic freshwater thing going on.

you need to do some research on the fish you are choosing. I assume it is a knife fish, which get fairly large and are not really fast swimmers. You need to compare its water conditions with other fish and other aspects of its life. I would suggest angel fish and tetras probably.

Black ghost knife fish are not for beginners. They are very large, should not be kept with other fish and need a specific environment. Also, they are very beautiful, but they need to spend most of the day hiding in tunnels, so you won't see your fish all that much.

All in all, a bit boring and difficult for a beginner to the hobby. Research the BGK as much as you can, save your $, and look into setting up a BIG BGK tank in the future, if you still want to after all you know.

Black Ghost Knifes are aggressive, they eat anything they possibly can, and can grow in excess of 3 feet. Nothing short of 300 gallons for this fish.
