I lost someone that I was very close to during the holidays a few years back. I either cried or got all misty thinking about memories all throughout that Christmas day. I even quietly shed a few tears in church during midnight mass because we would always go together every year. I have since gotten over my loss and try to be positive, especially over holidays.
The holidays are always so emotional. It's a time where you can be very happy or even pretty sad. I find it better to try to be happy around Christmas.

Yep. 3 Christmas's ago I had had 2 surgeries and my hubby had just had back surgery so neither of us were working and we could bareluy pay rent and utilities! I cried the whole MONTH of December and half of January cuz I could only offer my 16 year old son a bare Xmas tree! The only thing he got that year was home made coupons for things like: one day off grounding- one night staying up late- one lunch out with just he and mom, one day playing games and cards.....ect..... it totally broke my heart. So I guess the last 2 years Ive gone over board and got him everything his little heart desires! But it was an aweful Christmas and I refuse to ever let it happen again!

At least once I know I've cried - not quite Christmas...but 10:30 on Christmas Eve. It was a few years back though.
I accidentily sent my brother to the ER :'( I felt so bad and cried all night.
Come to think of it, I probably did cry that Christmas too, because I found out he wasn't able to sleep in his own bed due to the staples in his head. He had to sleep on the floor.

I'm with Lolly. I cry each and every Christmas and most Thanksgivings. My family lives out of state and I have not spent a christmas with them in 6 years. We are very close and we see each other throughout the year we just don't see each other for Christmas. I'm not necessarily sad, it's almost like a release. I cry and then get right back to fixing Christmas dinner.

yes, a couple tears, when my daughter was 14, she had wanted a second clarinet, a better one, for Christmas, but also needed it for her band Christmas concert,, which was couple weeks before,,, she got that early, it was on sale for $1200,,, then she wanted $100 dollars to spend on her friends, for alot of small gifts,,,, i gave her that,,,,, then she wanted a cell phone, i explained when we discussed the other things,, that she would have to get that the week after Christmas, she was all mature and wanted to do it,,,,,, but then on Christmas morning, she only had a few little things to open, no major Santa gift, she handled it well, but just the look in her eyes,,, ahhhhhh it was like the end of childhood, which she thought she was ready for, but maybe not quite,,,,,
and no, my family nor her is all about gifts,,, or the material, in fact she didnt get bought toys and games and things very often except for Christmas and her birthday,,,,,

The Christmas when I was in the hospital after having my son on the 22nd. I had some minor complications which kept me there for a week. Post-partum depression kicked in a bit, it was super icy outside so most folks couldn't come to visit and I just wanted to be home.
Thankfully I had my baby to remind me it was all for the good but I did get weepy at moments.

I don't remember ever on Christmas Day, but I have gotten a lump in my throat at the Mass on Christmas Eve when we sang The First Noel.

Yes, having a loved one taken away will do that to you. Its not like I'll spend all day crying but I'll shed a tear for a family member that has passed away.

I cried on Christmas when my sweetie used his last few dollars to try to get me something I did even need for Christmas just to make me happy. I'll never forget that gesture.
