the thick fog at Anfield is so bad & it means the 2006-2007 English Carling Cup quarter-final between Liverpool & Arsenal has to be postponed. the decision was made by the referee, Martin Atkinson after he inspect the ground at 6:45pm on Tuesday, 19 December 2006 & the conditions did not improve.

Yes it was called off, although at 8.00pm the fog had lifted and the game could have been played.

I had just parked my car up in Liverpool and gone into the pub when it came on sky sports about the inspection. So we waited around for the decision and then went back to Hull.

Sensible thing to do was to call it off. IF you cannot see from one side of the pitch to the other, its not good enough. Either way, if Arsenal lose Arsene always had a ready made excuse just there - either the fog, or the fact it was rescheduled....

Great! Arsene Wenger now has a good reason to lay the blame elsewhere, should Arsenal lose the re-match.

'If only we had played on the scheduled day, we would have won easily, the delay allowed Liverpool to regroup' - Arsene Wenger's possible statement.

I think the Refs were right to call it off due to a bad weather condition. Unfortunately this will put more pressure to both teams in terms of number of games they have in the EPL which are more important because they wanted to play this game get rid of it then thing about the future ones... now they still have to think about the very same game again...and this means their mind won't rest which is why both coaches were disappointed about the decision.

Tchao!
