Support slavery in China?

Walmart's vendors in China either pay unlivable wages or don't pay their workers at all and they keep their workers in squalor. How many Americans support that?

I think, if I understand your statistic, that Americans support some pretty rotten labor practices more often than we'd like to imagine, and it's not just about Wal-Mart.

Car companies, textiles, toys, shoes... lots of stuff comes from vendors which make their products in appalling conditions and then turns to have them distributed through reputable companies.

Ever stop to look at your cell phone and wonder who fastened the screws on the back, and how much she or he made per hour in Vietnam or China or Mexico?

The world famous Martin guitars are made from mahogany mined by slaves deep in the Peruvian forests. Several years ago, Nike got its hand slapped for paying overseas workers about 35 cents for each pair of $100 sneakers they turned out. Unlivable wages and working conditions exist in more places than China. I don't think Americans turn a blind eye to this; most are just unaware.

When a person walks into Walmart's, or any other store, he goes in to buy something. One in many thousands might question under what conditions the article was made. Most are concerned with the quality of the article, and the price.
Except for Walmart, just ask yourself just how many businesses you refuse to deal with until you have made a thorough study of their labor, and materials all the way to their source.
What you say about China is probably mostly true, but isn't that China's problem ? Forced child labor and child prostitution is common in Asia. Is America expected to stop it ?

Wal Mart pays "unlivable" wages to its own workers. Why should they care what the Chinese workers make?

Those poor Chinese workers are making a lot more money than they would if they didn't have a job. In China a "livable wage" is a lot less than it is here.

This is a leading question. Very few people who shop care how a product is made. They are only concerned about quality and price.

The only thing I bought at Wal-Mart for a gift was a $10 candle... I try to avoid Wal-Mart whenever I can.

I refuse to shop at Walmart. They don't take care of their employees, they destroy other businesses, and they are usually filthy in the physical sense.

How do you know they do this? Maybe a squalid job is better than no job at all and death.
