Because they trust government more than citizens. They feel that the government can do a better job at most things than private industry or private citizens can for themselves. If there's a slow economy, the first instinct of liberals is to raise taxes to protect government programs. For conservatives it is to cut taxes to help citizens by letting them keep more of their own hard earned money so they can weather the tough economic times. That is an enormous, important and fundamental difference. the conservative way has time and again proven to be more effective.
Don't let liberals fool you into thinking that they only want to raise taxes on the top 1%. That isn't true. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), soon to be house ways and means chairman said that he was in favor of repealing all of the Bush tax cuts. The Bush tax cuts, cut taxes for every single tax payer. That's a fact. Rangel wants to raise taxes for every single tax payer. Ask a liberal what they define is "Rich" and they won't tell you, because no one would like what they said.
I wonder how may of these rich "limousine" liberals intentionally over pay their own taxes. If they like high taxes so much, why don't they just donate their money to the government? John Edwards complains about a have and have not society, yet he's got a net worth of over $60 Million. He could donate $50 million to the federal government and still be a very rich man, but he sure as heck ain't gonna do that. I'm sure he takes advantage of every tax loophole and tax shelter he can.

Well you show a wonderful understanding of a liberal platform. I guess that you are probably in the wealthiest 1% of Americans, so yey you should pay higher taxes, and no you don't pay enough. If you aren't in the top 10% of incomes in the US then you are wrong about the liberal stand, but since you are probably never wrong, we will just say you are mega-rich and a filthy pig and a greedy sleaze that wants no taxes, better education, better national defense and better infrastructure, but would rather the poor and middle class pay for it while your businesses reap huge profits off the backs of the cesspool of a consumer market you and your cohorts have convinced us all is the American way.
Freddy, when did a conservative fueled economy do anything but help the rich and create a greater divide between the rich and poor? The answer is "the Great Depression." The Bush tax cut has netted me a grand total of $83 over the last six years total, not even $20 a year. The Bush "Tax cuts" have force my area to raise property taxes. So for my hush money to keep the outrage over the Bush coup, that $300 dollar refund and the other $83 bucks, my property taxes went up over $1000 a year. Now that's helping the lower middle class! Great job moron!
