I always check what similar items have sold for on ebay. I checked the completed listings & plates like yours have sold for $2-$3. I included the link for you. Good Luck.

Ebay's home page has a listing for collectables and I think "precious moments" are listed.If not try ebay stores,you don't have to buy,and they have things listed that are not for auction yet.I found my Norman Rockwell listed-it wasn't as valuable asI figured but it gave me an idea of how much it is worth.It was worth the few minutes it took.

If it is made in 1978, I think you should look it up on line. There is bound to be a answer there. If not, try a antique store. Or, try looking it up on eBay!
