worry about my spiritual well being? I struggle between doing what I desire and doing what I've been taught is right and I become overly concerned with the implications of my struggle. What is important and why? What do you do when you act one way, but secretly beleive something else? Are you saving face or attempting to do what's right? Are you supposed to deny your self-indulgences or accept them as normal and healthy expressions of yourself? What do you all think?

Because you know it might be wrong... although you want to do it anyway!
Everyone wants to be "liked", and sometimes they do things they don't agree with, to get it.
Once you get a stronger "core." Which comes with age. You will be able to "take a stand" with more comfort.
Self-indulgences - go for it, as long as it's not going to hurt anyone including yourself. There's nothing wrong with it.

Either you've been taught rules that would be too aescetic, or you indulge yourself too much. Or both. You need to identify your own values, attending to the real-life consequences you experience or are likely to experience from your indulgences, and decide how "wrong" it really is by whether it hurts you or other people, and how "right" it is by the benefits you experience. Once you've got that, all you need is to develop the integrity and self-mastery to deliberately choose your own actions according to your values, rather than just letting your desires push you into doing what you don't really want to do. It's not spiritual so much as it's just growing up.

We are in a battle. Between the truth and our own evil desires that lead us astray. Paul also talked about this. I do the things I don't want to do, and don't do what I want to do. As long as we live on this earth we will struggle against the natural man, or give in to him. Jesus died so that you would be set free from the law of sin and death. In Him, we will have the victory, if we choose Him. Without Him, we are already lost. Keep fighting against your sinful nature. The best way to win the battle is to constantly feed your spiritual nature. Read your Bible, Think about it, Act on it. Hate your sin. Hate all evil.. Love what is good and right. When you sin, confess your sin. He is faithful and just and will forgive your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Don't give in to your sin, to wallow in it like a pig in the mud. If you get dirty with a sin, take it to Jesus and let His blood wash you and make you clean.

This is a tough one and I am sure that many people have been here before, I know I have. Anyways no one can tell you which is better, your deisres or what you have been taught, you have to decide that on your own. I lived for many years thinking that I had to impress my parents and do things to make them proud. It wasn't till recently that I started living my life and not theirs. It was difficult, but I had to do it. Anyways I hope this helps and good luck!!

you are in a tough situation. Seems like there is a spiritual awakening in you . You should listen to the voice of your soul and follow that. There are not very many people who even bother to think about their action. You are already on the right path I think. God bless you.

So long as what you want to do harms no-one but yourself why not go for it?
When it starts to get dangerous for other around you that's when you need to stop and think about it. . .
