I am looking to buy a music beat program for my computer and I would like to know what is the best one to get?

Right now I know of Reason and Friuty Loops. I am trying to get beats for R&B and Hip Hop. Any help with this would be great!

What do you mean "get" beats? You want to make them?

Reason is far and away the best music-making tool out there, especially the newest version. The mastering control on Reason 3.0 is amazing. It's an entire studio on your desktop. It may be overkill though, as it's complex and takes years to learn, and I don't even know how long it will take to master. It's also very expensive, but if you're serious, it's worth it. It costs less than one good hardware synth, and it can do a lot more.

Fruity loops is fun, and you can definately make some sick beats on there too, but all you have to work with are other people's loops to layer and twist around. With reason, you can still do loops, but you can make your own.

Also look into Ableton Live, I prefer to make my own loops on Reason and play with them on Ableton.

I agree with poster #2 above. One thing that I will add is that when I was first learning them Reason was a bit harder to get started with. Fruity Loops is fun and easier to get going with.

If you are looking at doing this for a profession, go Reason, if this is just for fun at home, I would suggest Fruity Loops.
