universe and threw a rock, where would it go?

It depends on who you ask. Some say the universe expands to infinity, others say it works like a rubberband expands so far then snaps back into an anti-big bang, still others say it expands to a certain point and when it reaches that point all time will cease to exist (fitting into the theological ideas of the end of the world)

There is no edge to the universe. Our universe is a particle in some other higher 'level.' It's like when we look at atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, solar systems, planets, etc. There really are no boundaries between these particles. True, there are for all intents and purposes boundaries to our unadvanced selves. For example, a resident of an electron would be wondering what that damned thing they keep revolving around is. They can't see the protons because of the opposite charges. So, either there is a clash of forces at the edge of the universe, in which case your rock would bounce back, or there is a seamless transistion, like from solar systems to galaxies, and there is no edge.

Great question.

I sometimes ask a similar question... What CONTAINS (or surrounds) the physical universe?

My best answer... THE SPIRITUAL UNIVERSE.

And that leads to the next question... What contains (or surrounds the spiritual universe?

My best answer... THE PHYSICAL UNIVERSE.

There seems to be a paradox, here.

Truth is... no one really knows where the physical universe is, or where the spiritual universe is.

There are lots of opinions though.

It creates space for itself as it expands (or God creates the space as needed). On the rock, it would go nowhere.

I do not know the answer but think I may know how to find it. Attempt to detach yourself from every rule that you are aware of that governs our perceptual lives. Do this and the answer will be revealed.

if you threw the rock in front of you, it would eventually hit you in the back of the head.
