it acts like it is not getting fuel but there is plenty of gas. the injectors are not clogged and the fuel filter is fine. Some one told me that the distriubuter cap and coil are all in one and that may be my problem? How can I find out?
thank you for your help

Like assmouth said, just because you have fuel, doesn't mean you have enough fuel pressure.
Well I'd first start by figuring if it's fuel or fire related.
Pull plug wire off, lay it close to a good ground and crank engine. If you see spark coming from plug wire. If no spark is found, check distributor cap. If cap looks good, you may have a ignition module gone bad. If you do have spark, pull spark plug out. Is it wet or is it a dry white color? If it's wet, then you may just have fouled plugs or you may have a distributor cap cross firing. If the plugs are dry you need to check fuel pressure and injector pulse.
checking these few things should put you in the right direction. Hope this helps!

plenty of gas where? if you suspect a fuel problem you need to determine you have at least 30-40 psi of fuel pressure at the fuel rail. even if you get gas squirting out of the test, a bad fuel pressure regulator or a weak pump won't deliver the pressure that the fuel injectors require to function properly.

if you think it's ignition related, get a chilton's repair manual and a voltage reader. use that to test your coil pack and your ignition control module for starters. or just use a spare plug to see if you're getting a spark from the ignition wires.

Its hard to diagnose a car that's not in front of you, i just have to go by what you say if that's the case you can take off the distributor cap and pull out the button if its really deteriorated then that might be the prob, if not go to the next step!
