My father (deceased) has a patent, and I was thinking of manufacturing it again. We stopped after he passed away. Who can I contact that could answer the legal questions on how to go about doing this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First, see if the patent is still in effect. It may have expired. If it is still in effect, you have to determine who it's legal owner is. Was it left to you as a bequest? Martindale Hubbel (see your local library) has separate listings for patent attorneys (in the blue pages at the beginning.) Good luck!

I second Shaun N- but when you do call your bar association, ask for the contact information for the chairperson for the "Patent Law" Committee-if the county/city bar association doesn't have a patent law committee, call the state bar association- hiring the cahir for that committe is your best chance of getting competent legal help without paying an arm and a leg. Ignore everyone else--Good Luck!

You can contact the bar association in your state and they will be able to refer you to the type of attorney you are seeking. You may also want to research the internet for copyright/patent info in your area.
