Bleeding per vagina is not commonly normal during the first and second trimester of pregnancy. But in around 3% cases few drops of bleeding may be evident for 1-2 days during the same time of the monthly period in the first month as implantational hemorrhage which is not usually dangerous.
But as you are running 8 weeks, it is not supposed to be normal if the blood really comes from the uterus. This condition is termed as threatened abortion for which, immediate visit to a gynaecologist is advised and may be hospitalization is necessary.
However, if you have any cervical lesion, injury to cervix or vagina or any other mass or abnormalities in your uterus, there may not be any relation of your pregnancy with this bleeding. But you should immediately resort to a doctor. Wish your goodluck and sound health.

Some women do bleed during pregnancy, but there is no reason to take a chance that something is wrong. Go to your doctor or even the ER to get checked out.

NO that does not sound good, not at 8 weeks. when i was pregnant, i was told that at the very beginning when the egg is implanting itself in the wall of the uterus, a little spotting is okay, but at 8 weeks and BRIGHT RED?! no way! please hurry to your doctor's office to have them confirm the condition of your pregnancy!

Get off the internet and go call your OB-GYN immediately or go to the ER!
Sounds like a threatened miscarriage.
You should take this seriously.
