To answer the question...
I don't know. I'm straight and I personally don't care if gays chose or if they were born that way. Either way, they're not hurting anybody. I've never seen any reason to hate them or segregate them, or discriminate against them.
My belief is that they were born that way, but like I said, it makes no difference to me either way.
In response to some of the answers:
Maybe molesters chose, maybe they didn't. The fact is, gays choose consenting adults, molesters seek out children far too young to consent. BIG difference! 2 consenting adults aren't causing any harm by sleeping together, and certainly not by loving each other instead of contributing to all the hate in the world.
As far as the guy who wants sex with 4 "chicks"... that would be harming your wife emotionally. If she said it was ok for you to do that, and the 4 "chicks" were ok with it, go for it.
I have no problem with 2 guys kissing, or 2 girls kissing. In fact, it makes me miss my girlfriend even more when she's away. Love is beautiful, and I'm saddened by the fact that so many people are too homophobic, ignorant, stubborn, afraid, or brainwashed to see it.
It is not the gays who ruin the "sanctity of marriage", it is those who deny it to couples in love.
Love is beautiful! Just open your mind and your eyes to see it!

Sounds right to me. That's what most pedophiles say as well.
It is a strong biological urge that you cannot control. It is in the brain. The brain of a Molester is different .It is out of there control. They deserve to be happy however ,and deserve to have sex just like any one.It would be cruel other wise.
Why can't the molesters Molest?
or is it that they should put there urge in check?
I have a strong biological urge to Have sex with 4 hot chicks at once. Should i do it, or put that urge in Check, I wonder how my wife feels about that.
Suppress your urges, we all do!

I know this much. It has has to be "nature of the beast"
I cant for the life of me see why anyone would chose to be gay.
I'm straight, so maybe my judgment is clouded.
But I just cant believe that some guy would be attracted to another guy without some form of Biological drive. It has got to be a need based in the DNA or something.
As far as my kids being gay or lesbian. If they are, they are. I'll still love my babies. I might not understand it. But that wont change my love for my kids.
Now, If my son wants to marry a mule... I'll get him therapy!

Not all straight people think that gay people choose to be gay, but for those who think so the only thing that will make them understand is education, whether it be them actually knowing a gay person or reading something about it being biological or about there being homosexual animals (who obviously did not choose a gay lifestyle). Almost everyday there is a question here about either being born gay or choosing to be gay. As sick and tired I am of answering them, when I see some of the other comments that are usually unkind and nonfactual I can't help but answer with some links to the scientific studies that show it is biological in the hopes that maybe just one person who thinks it is a choice will read one of them and begin to question their incorrect belief of it being a choice.

Hey, don't generalize all of us. I'm straight and I completely understand this. When I was young and started having sexual feelings my brain and body responded to men. The same exact thing happens to gay people except they find themselves responding to the same gender. I didn't make a choice to be straight just like gay people don't make a choice to be gay. I've always been baffled that people don't understand this basic, simple, logical thing. Even more bewildering: with all the crap gay people have to deal with and all the homophobia, why would someone "choose" to be gay. To annoy and get back at their parents? That sounds completely stupid to me. By the way, thanks for the decent question. I like this category but get awfully tired weeding through all the retarded questions and all the basher's crap.

We live our lives the best we can, we pursue our dreams and take hold of our destinies. We don't let the world stop up because we are different, instead we make it "happen" despite our differences. We can do great things within us, and when they see the road that we have taken, they may hate to admit it but they will realize that we too can be great. Just to have their bashing silenced by their wide-eyed wonder... sounds more than enough for me.
And as for trying to convince them... it's a bit pointless if they're hellbent on raining fire and brimstone at us (Sodom and Gomorrah flavor). "A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still" - Dale Carnegie.

I dont think that all straight people could grasp that concept. I try to tell straight people that it is like them being born hetero and everyone else is gay. How would they feel, and was it their "choice" to be hetero? I think that gay people have a long way to go with the breeders.
I am a straight girl, but I think that I have a gay man (probably a drag queen) inside me. Some people think that I am gay because I am VERY pro-gay and I let everyone know that. I really wish that straight people would be a little more open minded and not think that gay people are going to try to turn them.

It's pointless to ponder this, love. There have always been homophobic breeders and there always will be. It's a fact of life. The trick for us is to get to the point where we don't give a flying f*ck what they think about us.
Think about it: Do we HONESTLY need their approval and support in order to be happy. As far as I'm concerned the entire world could damn me to hell, and I couldn't care less. It's not going to change a thing about who I choose to love.

If God can deliver us from anything- how about being delivered from close mindedness, intolerance and hatred?
My observation is that it is usually gays that say this. Could it be that they are telling the truth?
For those who insist it is a choice- why would someone choose to be in the minority, where many of the attractive potential lovers are excluded automatically because they are straight? Doesn't make sense, unless you like being picked on. Oh yeah, nobody likes that.

It will only be accomplished on an individual basis. It will take a close emotional connection and even then will not always succeed.
And to hardtimes:

Recognize that?
