I saw Counter-Strike 1.6 on Softpedia and I was wondering is this version free or is it a free trial??? I thought you had to pay for it???

Here is the link to it;

http://games.softpedia.com/get/Freeware-Games/Counter-Strike.shtml

Apparently it is made by Valve, which is to do with Counter-Strike.

Thanks,

Jay

no cs 1.6 is not free to download (Unless you have a copy of half life in your computer). When i tried downloading it, it said "steaminstaller". Steam's FOR running games made by valve.

Yes it's made by valve.

Yes you could once get it free, but now you have to run it through a program called Steam. Steam will only let you play the latest version, plus I don't think there are any 1.6 servers running anyway. The latest one is the best version anyway! (Although don't buy it second hand 'cos only one Steam account can use the CD Key!).

Hope this helps!

it may in all probability value extra to get the unique cd yet its only 10 money on steam plus you get situation 0 and situation 0 deleted scenes identity say its well worth it even for CZ

Yes it is absolutely free. It is made by valve and once you download it you get a steaminstaller. you then just double click on it and install it wherever you want it.

Yes, there are still Counter strike 1.6 servers running.

I think there are about 50 of them left.

As opposed to the thousands of counter strike source servers.
