As a Jays fan, I'm happy with the acquisition of Frank Thomas and the re-signing of Vernon Wells to a long-term deal, but I'm disappointed that we were unable to get one of the arms out there - Padilla, Lilly or Meche. I like the 1-2 combo of Halladay-Burnett, but I'd like a more solid and proven third than Chacin. Maybe J.P. can swing a deal before the season, but right now it looks like a tough situation with the back end of that rotation.
Still, I'm ready for the season to start. I'll be ordering the Extra Innings package as soon as it's available, and I'm anxious to watch both the Jays and other teams.

The Cardinals could use 1 more starter. I would like to see them resign Jeff Weaver if possible. Jeff Suppan may ask for more money. Mulder won't be ready by opening day and he may command a lot of money. Marquis has already gone to the Cubs. Hopefully the Cardinals can get a decent #2 starter for a good price. Either way, the genius that is Dave Duncan will figure something out and the Cardinals will (most likely) be contenders next year.

Always ready for baseball!
When do pitchers and catchers report to spring training, mid February? Already counting down.
For the most part, I'm happy with the White Sox off-season. Not a lot of drama there, but none needed, just needed to get the starting pitching back to form and improve the bullpen.

AM I ready for baseball? Sorry it doesn't feel like it ever ended we still hear about it on a daily basis. That and I'm enjoying the NFL season too much this year. THough I must admit I'm excited by all the moves my favorite team - The Cubs, made this off-season. I just hope that for once htey pay off. I'd like to see them get one more quality outfielder but hey beggars can't be choosers, right? And being a Cubs fan I'm always reminded that there's always next year.

I've been ready for baseball since the Series ended. Football is cool but it's just not baseball.
I am happy with the Yankees acquisition of Andy Pettite and Kei Igawa and also the restraint they've shown with the big names available.

I'm ready for baseball season.
I'm a Phillies fan, and I'm only half-way happy with their acquisitions. The pitching has definitely been upgraded, but the last weeks of September proved that they need another big bat in the lineup to protect Ryan Howard. We're stuck with Pat Burrell, who could put out fires with his swings and misses. Wes Helms at third is only marginally better than David Bell,. who we had for most of last year.
Lots of hitting question marks.

I can't wait for the season to start. Baseball's offseason makes me sick what with the ridiculous money beign spent, so I can't wait for the focus on baseball to return to pitching and hitting instead of Steroids, 100 million dollar contracts and Japanese guys no one has ever heard of. I'm rooting for the Brewers this year and I think they are pretty solid right now, maybe one more pticher, but if they can just avoid the injury bug a little better then they did last year they shouldn't be too bad.

I would be happy if the Phillies could trade Liber and/or Burrell (especially for Mike Gonzalez or another middle reliever), and I'd be even happier if we signed Keith Folke, but all in all, I think we have the tools to win the NL East in 2007.
Gillick was smart not to overspend for a poor crop of free agents. We make a pitch at Soriano, and when it fell through, he didn't go into panic spending mode like so many other teams and overpay for mediocre talent (except Adam Eaton, but hey, nobody's perfect).
I'm happy.

It's always a great day to play two! But alas I am a Mariners fan, and while they did shore up the DH and have Ben Broussard to deal, they have actually gone backwards when it comes to pitching, gutting the bullpen and not picking up anything resembling even a medium-quality starter. So perhaps they will push their way a little over .500, but forget the postseason. Blecch.
