Actually, the X is short for CHRIST, not chriss. It was an early marking used among Christians. A lot of folks say not to use XMAS because you leave Christ out fo Christmas, but in actuality, x=Christ. Merry XMAS!!

According to Wikipedia (and other sources I've heard through the years, but couldn't tell you what they were), Xmas as an abbreviation still means CHRIST - mas. In the early greek New Testament, the letter X was the first letter of Christ. Also, the Roman letter X has been used as an abbreviation for Christ. So, Xmas means the same, just a shorter version.

it has been known that people should not write that because a long time ago it was used by devil worshipers who did not believe in christmas and so they used the x to delete out christ and use x-mas in a bad way so you should never use that

It's just a short way to say it. I think it's kinda dumb. But it helps if you HAVE to squeeze it in on a piece a paper.
