Just read the question...pretty much asking what guys need to do to be considered prep.

Basically, right now I have a lot of Aeropostale stuff... Mostly tee-shirts and jeans, though.

I know about the fashion stuff...but what is actually considered "preppy" as in senses of music, shoes, and stuff?

Well if you're a teen, it's pretty much wearing Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister and American Eagle. But you also have to "be" prep, you can't just wear the clothes... its something you have to grow into. lol

Preppie is a much more tailored looked than Aeropostal.
Jeans are a part of it but they must be designer label and only worn if they have been dry cleaned with perfect creases. Tee-shirt must also be ironed and are never worn untucked.
Any shoe can be preppy however, they cannot be multi-colored. Even sneakers must be solid white like what tennis players wear. The real question regarding footwear is to wear socks or not. Preppiess do not wear socks with dress shoes only with white sneakers and only solid white socks.
I'm a man in his 40's with no children so I have no idea what music Preppies are listening to these days. Back in the 80's Preppies were into what ever was being put in heavy rotation on MTV. Now a day I find what is on MTV too urban to be considered Preppie.
STUFF!!! This is the main focus of a Preppie. Basically Preppies lived by the old saying, "He who dies with the most toys, WINS!" Preppies are completely materialistic and a complete slave to any marketing.

Dress in AE, Abercrombie, JCrew,Ralph Lauren Polo, etc. Basically a lot of polo shirts, and those long tan shorts.

Worrying about what it takes to be prep makes you prep. So you already are on your way.

music would be hip-hop like fergie, and stuff, shoes maybe white big shoes, idunno?! by the way for clothes buy pink and green plaid long shorts with ur hair up as a mini mohack and a pink polo with big silver-blackish sunglasses

wear collared shirts and jeans and nothing black pretty much and no band shirts
