Physically we are fighting terrorism. Ideologically, we are fighting Islam. The reason is because orthodox Islam teaches to kill or convert. We have to fight that mindset before we can win physically.

The U.S. military is engaged in fighting the insurgents. These people utilize terror against anyone they disagree with. They are killing a lot more Muslims than Americans, so I don't understand how people can confuse the two.
Mainstream media have generated hatred toward Muslims, or Arabs in general. Why this is, I can only guess. I have had a lot of contact with these people, and by and large, they are very friendly, decent people. A lot nicer than the typical politician or newscaster.
If people in this country believe that we are fighting Islam, I guess the media has done its job of brainwashing the American people.

Terrorism AND Fundamentalism. Islam is really a peaceful faith but some as in the US and A twist their faith way out of proportion & polarize , hating all that is not like them. Sunni vs Shiite , both Muslim....Most Democrats vs most Republicans both mostly Christian.... Fundamentalism is one step removed from Fascism...

Neither, we are involved in a civil war in Iraq, one that Bush's father said was one of the reasons he didn't invade Iraq! The other reason he gave was that it violated the UN Charter!
That most in the middle east are Islamic is not material, and there are not that many fundamentalist, but we are the recruit poster boy for terrorist and if we get hit again you have no one to blame but people like Bush and his ilk!

The US is fighting the American people. The government wants the power but the people won't give it to them. But if you distract them with wars on others they'll the government the power. They do this so the gov't can save us from the boogeyman of Terror, but the gov't uses it to--of all things--become the Boogeyman of Terror. But everytime you see the American boogeyman coming out from under your bed he points at the closet and says watch out for the boogeyman over there.
Now your scared out of your wits and you hand your protective blanket over to the bed boogeyman (American gov't) so he can protect you from the one in the closet. Instead, he just chokes you with it. God bless America, she certainly deserves it.

it took Martin Luther and the reformists to stand up and stop the catholic church from its attrocities. Islam has been killing since that same time and has yet to stop. If there is a moderate group that wants to stop them they need to be more aggressive but sure havent seen that yet have you? if it was my religion that was being used to kill I would get involved with stopping it wouldnt you?

We should be fighting terrorism, but a lot of people think that means fighting Islam.
That really pisses of a lot of my Muslim friends who are pacifists.
