Try the Aljunied Crescent food centre, they've so many varieties of food which is reasonably cheap and delicious!!! They've a chicken rice stall selling a plate of chicken rice at only $0.99, which is an astonishing price for everyone!!!
Apart from that, try Hong Lim Complex in the vicinity of Chinatown area. They've a lot of nice & affordable food which make you savour for more cravings!

Halal food are not cheap. They got captive audience so why charge less. A better question to ask where can food centres with lots of halal stalls. Try Tekka Market at little Inda for starters.

U can go to Geylang market hawker centre.. its cheap and nice. Confirm halal! Take MRT to Paya lebar station. Anyway, it a temporary location coz they are rebuilding the market.

You can get mee rebus at a Malay stall at New Upper Changi Road market for just $1.30 There's always a queue there when the stall is open.

there's a lot of small restaurants around Singapore, food stalls...
people above me right...you always can find something cheap near university ^ ^
if you want halal...then you can go to melayu's rstaurants...or for your own safety just ask to the owner...
most of restaurants in Singapore didn't mentioned halal because they sells alcohol and that's not allowed to get sign of halal consider to the rules in Singapore...
