Yes. Well, kind of. It's not called Walmart but Walmart owns a British supermarket chain called Asda. I'm not sure exactly what Walmart is (because i'm English) but Asda sells groceries, cosmetics, clothes, electricals and stuff. It caters for the slightly lower quality end of the market.

EDIT: Priscilla, that's an interesting point of view you have. The local shops have been dying out for a generation because of supermarkets. Asda isn't the first supermarket, far from it. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencers, Waitrose have been around for years and so was ASDA (before Walmart bought it). You're right though. It is a shame that supermarkets are killing the local, independent traders.

No, there are no Walmarts in London. However, the Walmart company owns a large chain of British supermarkets called Asda, which sell pretty much the same wide range of things. Except ammunition and guns , of course!!

ASDA is owned by WalMart and the word "WalMart" seems to get bigger on their sign each day.

They are not quite as HUGE as the America WalMart, but give it a year or two.

I'm an American who just got back to the USA after living in the UK for five years. They (the UK) still has the small town life of butchers, bakers and small shops on their high streets, but WalMart (or ASDA) should end that. Shame really.

There is one in Manchester so think there will be in London.
Why not type in Walmarts in England on your toolbar to find out.
