Chances are they won't be able to hear it with a doppler by 8 weeks, but if they do a trans-vaginal ultrasound they should definitely see it beating by then. once the baby's heartbeat is seen/heard, your chances of miscarriage are nearly gone.

Not always! Plus, were they using doppler or an ultrasound (vaginal is best at less than about 10 weeks)? An ultrasound can pick it up sooner than a doppler. Plus, baby still has TONS of room to "run" in there, and may have just been hiding. Also, (not to pry or anything) if you are over weight, it can be harder to find the heart beat with anything but a vaginal ultrasound. RELAX and just rest. Stress is the worst thing for you now. It will work out! Good Luck!

Not finding the heartbeat does not mean you will have a miscarriage. My sons heart beat was always hard to find even using the doppler. It would take sometimes up to 20 minutes every week to locate it. I was a very high risk pregnancy and it wasnt until I was 34 weeks pregnant that they were able to find his heartbeat without taking up to 20 minutes but we knew he was in there we could hear him moving just couldnt find that heart beat.

My doctor tried at 10 weeks and 14 weeks to find my baby's heartbeat. I was getting really worried so I asked for an ultrasound an he was fine. Again the next two visits, she could not find the heartbeat, but I had another u/s at 20 weeks and it showed he was fine. My doctor didn't manage to find his heartbeat with the Doppler until I was 24 weeks. So, it's not necessarily a reason to be concerned, it could just be that your baby hangs out more on the bottom of your uterus with his backside out which makes it harder to get the heartbeat.

I am six weeks and i just went to the doctor yesterday and they told me that they wouldn't be able to find a heart beat, usually, after the ninth week but it depends. Last time i was pregnant they used the doppler and i was only 7 weeks. the heart in a fetus developes with in the fifth month but you wont be able to hear it until the next few weeks after that fifth week. Good Luck

I Know People who have not been able to find the heartbeat at 8 weeks from a ultrasound...And Morethan likely you wont be able to find it with the doppler at only 8 weeks (usually around 12) I dont think that it means you will miscarry. Do you know your HCG levels? Do you have any reason to be worried? I would talk to your Doctor. But No it does not mean you WIL miscarry

if its not on the sonogram by 8-9 weeks its considered an unviable pregnancy.
By doppler you cant find the heart beat until about 10-12 weeks.

the baby's heart can't be heard until 8 - 9 weeks anyway so don't worry if they haven't been able to find it. either that or it could mean you're dates are wrong that happened to me. the midwife couldn't find a heartbeat at 9 weeks when i was booked but i wasn't sent for an ultrasound straightaway. but when i went to my 12 week scan they dated me at 11 weeks, even though i was sure of my dates.
good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy

It depends on the method being used to find the heart beat. If it is by a scan, then unfortunately the pregnancy is not viable. If the heartbeat is being listened to from the outside, then it is common not to hear it at this stage.

did they try the doppler or an u/s? If it was a doppler, they couldnt find my daughters untill she was 11 weeks. If it was a u/s, I read that a heartbeat should be seen by 6 weeks. I hope I helped. Best of luck.
