I understood that the norm is a 15 minute break within the first half of the shift. Then, half an hour for lunch, and a second 15 minute break in the second half of your shift.
Isn't that the law?
I wouldn't last very long if I were on my feet for 7 hours straight, and then 4 more hours after lunch.
Why do you call it a slacker rest?

Probably only one! I used to work a job where I was on my feet for 8 hours a day but I had a lunch after five hours and at least one 20 min break and that worked for me, but I was constantly tired. This job would do me in after one day.

When I was an electrician in Arizona , we did straight 8s during the summers , starting at the crack of dawn - no breaks or lunch and sparky work is real work !
The other laborers often did straight 8s also .
Everybody lasted for the whole job stints . . .

go ask Walmart employees; they do it ever working day of the year; the Evil Empire is notorious for threatening single mothers, who desperately need work, that they will be fired or else. ( I am not a single mother, but a middle income white collar salaried worker who doen't like the way these big companies are able to prey upon those who are in the lower income levels and often at desperate times in their lives)

No more than three hours, then I would take a break. If they fired me, and I filed a claim with the labor board, guess who would win?
