How Should I Kick Start My Fashion Career?

I have a strong passion for fashion and i want to have a my boutique of my own designs. I would like to start a online business but I don't know how. And also, I love New York City's fashion industry, how could I get in there?

Hi,

I was gonna just send an email to you because I don't really have an answer to your question. However, I am currently starting a web site that promotes, solicits, advise and ultimately sale fashion by independent and fresh designers.

I am in the design faze of my site and will start a promo. search in the new year (probably spring). My goal is to find the fashion talent out there that has a great eye and fresh ideas.

Personally, I am not in the fashion industry. I do love fashion and I use to see clothes and think " that's nice but it would be nice if..", you know what I'm saying? I have a good friend who designs here own clothes for herself and just from wearing her own stuff around people ask her where to get it and next thing you know she just sold an outfit to someone.

My friend makes very nice stuff but she doesn't have the resources to bring her designs to the mass market. That's what inspired me to do what I am doing.

What I found out in my search to learn more about fashion is that there is no "true way" to get into the fashion biz. Fashion season in NY is one of the biggest thing for designers to put their work on display for a mass market and hopefully get carried by a store or label.

What type of designs do you do? Have you produced any finished products? If you think my idea would possibly fit your goal some how, let me know and we can chat more (via email). I would love hear any ideas about what you think would be useful for hopeful designers breaking into the fashion industry.

I'd endorse a direction within the field you wish to paintings in....and you'll see if thats what you quite wish to do... Central st Martins London school of Fashion Retail type academy All in London ... they run more than a few brief/ christmas/ easter or night guides... or get a few paintings enjoy... Good success however it isn't effortless I have a measure in Fashion and think me it is a difficult enterprise... Oh and get a aspect time retail process someplace well for type...Topshop or Selfridges and many others or a few retail enjoy!
