Turn them inside out, use cold water, hand wash or use a soft gentile cycle, use a little fabric softner in rinse water, DO NOT use the dryer and allow them to hang dry inside out.

I has always helped me by washing the clothes inside out, and washing on a cold delicate load.
I have just recently started using "Dryel bags", and this has been working out for me.
It makes the clothes remain in new condition, while cutting down on the cost of the cleaners.

I wash my clothes in cold water and hang them to dry. They don't fade at all, even black.⥠Give it a try. They won't shrink that way also.

If you have bright colors or a color on color that will run, before you wash or even wear your garment, rinse it in a salt water bath. The salt sets the color.
