Rap is slower and more serious. Hip Hop is fun and is about having a good time. i think Hip Hop has better beats too. People think rap or hip hop is a joke when some rappers actually rap meaningful stuff that some people don't even think about. They will never understand

Rap songs are more about the lyrics and less about the music. hip hop is more about the music. rap was an art form, putting words together to tell a story, but if you look at hip hop now its more about the music and the lifestyle

Hip Hop is more musical usually with more of a "point" to the song. Rap is more about the message (usually dumb) of what they are saying and isn't as musical. The beat usually just constantly repeats.

Just for the record, I hate them both. However, I've noticed a slight difference in what they sing about. Rappers seem to only sing about how rich they are or how easily they could kill someone. Hip hop is about other stuff. I'm pretty sure this isn't true in all situations, but I find it to be true most of the time.
