Being both union members they both come out on the wire pretty much the same. If one is a private craftsman and really pushes, he can do real well, I did in plumbing well still holding up my integrity.

Sorry to disagree with everyone, but Plumbers make significantly more, especially licensed plumbers. The reason for this is Plumbing has many more flat rate price items (such as boilers, hot water heaters, etc. ) and these are big ticket items.
Electricians have electrical services and not much else in terms of big ticket flat rate items.
And now for the reason the general market pays more for plumbers than electricians:
People would prefer to stick their hands into an electrical panel than a toilet.
I'm surprised so many people here thought it was the other way around.
I've been in the business for 20 years and know plumbers with their own businesses, so this is a fact not a guess.
Good luck.

depends on which one i have to pay...they both make more than any sane person should pay...(ok i'm a tightwad).
electricians have a longer apprenticship and a more comprehesive educational requirement for journeymanship, so i'd say electicians
