Yes..pregnant women should get the flu shot since they are one of the high risk populations to get stronger strains of the flu that could potentially harm the fetus. Plus there are new studies that show that babies who are born to women who get the vaccine while pregnant seem to be immune to the flu for the first year of life.

No, it isn't there is too much mercury in them.

"he CCIAP also state that the flu shot is “considered safe and may be beneficial for pregnant women at all stages of pregnancy and for breastfeeding mothers” as well as “anyone over the age of 6 months.”11
Truth: The flu shot contains Thimerosal, a preservative that is 50% mercury by weight. In the FDA’s report on Thimerosal, the remark that “As a precautionary measure, the Public Health Service (including the FDA, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics issued two Joint Statements, urging vaccine manufacturers to reduce or eliminate Thimerosal in vaccines as soon as possible.”18
Truth: According to the FDA, the mercury found in vaccines is an organomercurial, a known neurotoxin that can cause permanent damage to the brain and central nervous system, mercury is also a known reproductive and development toxin causing harm to developing fetuses and children, an endocrine disruptor (mimicking hormones) and a known carcinogen.19
Truth: All of the influenza vaccinations purchased by Health Canada for the 2005 – 2006 season contain Thimerosal.20 Other chemicals included in this year’s shot include formaldehyde a known carcinogen, phenoxyethanol (antifreeze) and aluminum.21 Thimerosal and aluminum are two toxins that have been associated with an increased risk in Alzheimer’s and autoimmune disorders.
Truth: Dr. H. Hugh Fudenberg, Director of Research, NeuroImmuno Therapeutics Research Foundation who has written over 800 papers published in peer review medical journals world wide, found after undertaking a 10 year study on the effects of the influenza vaccine that those who receive five consecutive influenza vaccines are ten times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s than those who have not been vaccinated or only had one or two shots.22
Truth: 69% of those vaccinated experienced some type of local reaction and 26% experienced systemic reactions.14 These reactions include “red eyes, respiratory symptoms (cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and wheezing), and facial edema following influenza immunization, a cluster of symptoms now called oculo-respiratory syndrome (ORS).” According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) “The most frequently reported adverse event was ORS”.
More common reactions according to the PHAC include: Cough, fever, sever pain and swelling, joint and back pain, dizziness, fatigue, malaise, headache, increased sweating, and my favorite – influenza like illnesses. Remember, the flu shot can’t give you the flu, it can however give you an illness that acts and feels like the flu.23
More sever reactions include: Guillain-Barré syndrome and other symptoms of paralysis, allergic reactions including anaphylactic shock."

I was told by my doctor that since I gave birth the day before flu season, I had to get it after delivery, in his office.
He told me that in the hospital they give it to every pregnant person that comes in to deliver. (if they didn't already get it)
all pregnant woman, no mater in which stage, should get the flu shot during this season. If not, they will have to get it after delivery anyway!
(because the baby can't get it till 6 months)
Good luck

Yes it is safe. If it wasn't safe no practitioner would have given it to her. Its alot safer then all the drugs that would be pumped into her if she got ill while pregnant. The young, those with weak immune systems, elderly and pregnant are recommend to have one.
