If you mean Alexandre Dumas's Count of Monte Cristo, His name is Edmond Dantes, once a sailor then after finding a vast treasure on the island of Monte Cristo, buys the island and becomes the famouse Count of Monte Cristo! I love the book. I've read the whole thing...all 117 chapters! great book and I suggest that anyone who likes a good book and time to read it. Great!

In the book entitled The Count of Monte Cristo not Chrsitie the hero's name is Edmond Dantes and this was one of my all-time favorite books. Even though Alexander Dumas' name is on the book, he didn't write it. He would come to the publishing house he owned and give an idea to his thirty or so indentured scribes and have them write the story. He would throw out what didn't fit and keep the parts that did and when everything was done to his satisfaction he would publish the book. Since indenured scribes couldn't 'own' anything Dumas got the credit. You might also like King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard a really enjoyable read.
