I have this same problem (although probably not as bad) - if you DO like something and are thinking of buying it, don't tell her. Just go (in secret) and buy your new outfit, then if she asks you where you got it, say u can't remember or something. She might just get tired or else get the message. Anyway remember that she can never be as fabulous as u if she is just imitating u. Now you know what it's like for celebrities! x

I know this sounds crazy- but actually, when someone copies you that is a nonverbal compliment. She admires you, but is taking it a little too far.. Try going shopping with her and help her find her own unique sense of style. Kindly point out clothes that you think would look flattering on her. Try not to tell her about the clothes you like or you could switch it up and tell her you like things you really don't so she will buy those instead. Good luck!

Don't let her see what you have bought until a few weeks later, by the time she goes to get it there will be none left, or next time you buy something and she buys the same dont tell her and take it back to the shop the next day exchange it for something else or get a refund and go elsewhere, when she asks say no i didn't like it i took it back and bought something else this will surely teach her a lesson

You two sound exactly like me and my best friend. Take it as a compliment and don't confide with her on anything you might like to buy. Just wear it and see what she does. If she copies you tell her that you wished that she bought it in another color so you don't have to call her to make sure that you aren't wearing the same outfit.
Keep on mentioning this to her and eventually she might get it.

My daughter was the same way about my niece.
She looked up to her as an admirable role model.
She quit copying her eventually and found her own style.
If your friend keeps doing it, you could try picking out clothes that are truly tacky when you're shopping together, and see if she buys them, much less wears them.
But, definitly don't go thru with buying them for yourself.

Start acting like you like all the UGLY clothes in the store.. help her go shopping and pick out the really ugly clothes, act like you are going to buy it then when you get to the register act like you forgot your money.. then tell her how jealous you are that she gets to wear something so HOT and you dont.

Well they say mimicry is the greatest form of flattery ,,,, If it really bothers you all that much then I would suggest that your limit your time with her if not just shut it off altogether ,,,, Barring that the only other thing you can do is risk hurting her feelings by telling her that she's irritating you and that you want her to stop ,,,,,, Have fun ,,,

take it as a comliment. i can understand why it is annoying, but she probally looks up 2 you.
like you said, you cant really say anything cause it might hurt her feelings. but try hinting abit.
but also i do think that she needs to no otherwise this could ruin your friendship. by annoying you all the time, it will bring you to disliking her.
personally i think you should tell her.
good luck!!

I had a friend like that when I was about 17. I put up with it for about two years until I ended up making comments about it. Eventually she twigged to what I was saying and we started drifting apart then. We haven't seen other for years now. No loss. This is really common with girls and can't see why they do it.

Try to give her compliments on things she does that are not like something you would do. Like say you go shopping and you see a cute shirt (not something you would wear) and tell her how great it would look on her. Or say her hair is blond like yours, tell her-I bet you would look soooo great with red high lites, I can't pull them off but I bet you could! She is just trying to find herself and doesn't know where to go, help her out a little. But make sure you are really helping her not making her look stupid!
