I am trying to plan my son's baptism and a gathering after the service. I don't know how to cut my guest list down because my husband and i have both have so much family and friends. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but we can not afford to invite everyone. Who should be invited? I know godparents and grandparents. But what about friends and family?

I am Catholic and the answer is, invite everybody and ask family members and close friends to bring a food dish. If they are good friends they will be honored to bring something. Where I am from everyone helps with celebrations.

invite all family up to the grandparents and that's it. Don't include any friends cause if you invite a few, you should invite them all.

Perhaps instead of an invitation, you could send an announcement to those who you would have invited if your budget allowed.

When my children were born, their birth announcement also included either an invite to the baptism or the 'information' about the baptism. It worked well and saved tons of $.

Good luck!

When our three children were baptised, we invited the grandparents, godparents of course, and the aunts and uncles. We invited only close family friends. We wanted our family and friends to share our special day however we did in fact only invite the immediate aunts and uncles to my children and not the extended families.

Good luck and Merry Christmas :)

i'm no longer Catholic yet i've got faith that to baptize and toddler that doesn't be responsive to Jesus yet and has no thank you to compliment Him then that's ultimate left until he/she is old adequate to obtain Him. My church does not baptize toddlers they commit them to the Lord. No water is used. Catholics use the basis that Jesus became baptized so as subsequently others are to boot. making use of the best judgment how come Jesus became no longer baptized as an toddler? easily they could have performed it had they common he became going to desire it so as to get to heaven so the Catholics think of. i became baptized as an toddler because of the fact of my denomination and because we did no longer be responsive to from now on valuable. I even have additionally been water dunked baptized and that i've got performed it 4 cases. no longer because of the fact I had to yet because of the fact once I attended a sparkling church I did it with them. So i'm over baptized. I say do what ever you desire on Baptism yet do no longer rigidity others to could do it your way. It does not situation me that Catholics and countless different denominations baptize their toddlers. i be responsive to that I could do only as i've got faith God is premier me to do.
