RIght now, I think that Yao is the most dominant force in the NBA. Overall play this year I think is a toss up between S. Marion, R. Lewis, and G. Arenas. They are all playing the best that they have in their careers. What a great year so far for the NBA, besides the recent brawl.

Tim Duncan is still the best. He can turn it on at any time, is steady as a rock, and carries his team. The Spurs have been an NBA Finals threat every year since he's been in the league.

As of today. Yao Ming. Best center/player in the NBA hands down. Averaging a double double a game. Look at his numbers and Houston's record. Get's it down with and without T-Mac.

It's easy to be Steve Nash when you have Amare, Marion, Diaw and a great bench. When Nash starts playing defense then I will consider him.

Steve Nash...his play makes all his teammates better. Averaging 11.4 assists per game and leading his team to the top FG% (.492), FT% (.819) and points per game (110.6) in the league, he is the ultimate team player and leader. He may not average 30+ points like Carmelo Anthony or Allen Iverson, but you never have to worry about character flaws or actions that may be detrimental to his team like we do with those 2.
In addition, he's leading his team on a club-high 14 (going for 15 tonight) game winning streak...
He is the kind of player that brings versatility to his team...he makes sure all the scorers get going early (Stoudemire, Marion, Bell) by racking up the assists and getting everyone involved, he can also turn it on and score relentlessly when everyone is cold and they need a quick score. He is averaging 19.8 points AND 11.4 assists per game this year...that accounts for at least 42 points a night. His leadership is unquestioned and he can motivate his team with his competitiveness and respect for the game.
In the words of the great Wayne Gretzky (when recently asked who the best Canadian athlete is today)..."Steve Nash is it...too bad he plays for the other team in town...the basketball team!"

Definitely Dirk Nowitzki. He has been getting in the double digits in both points and rebounds. He has become a leader on the MAVS team and he has a way of being friendly and cheering his team up after a loss. He takes his job passionately.
