Right now, any shaft height is "in," but knee highs are more versatile. Avoid any height that goes above the knee, it usually ends up looking trampy. Ankle boots are stylish, but work best with jeans.
Leather is always the best material to buy, suede being a close second, since they last longer and don't wear out as easily as fabric. Plus, leather won't clash with any other material that you wear, a fabric boot won't always go with every other fabric in your closet.
Black is the best color, brown a close second, since you can wear the neutral colors with any other color. A fashion color, like red, won't go with all the other colors in your wardrobe.
Dress boots (not chunky, bulky, or funky) can go with just about everything. A slim lined boot that looks like a regular heel, only with a shaft, flatters most any figure, and will go with jeans, skirts, pants, and informal dresses.
The price depends on how much you want to spend. You can pay $20 at a discount store, or $1,000+ at designer stores. The best thing to do is set your budget, then look for stores that cater to your needs.

Yes, those long boots are in, but don't get them any higher than your knees. What do you mean by fabric? Leather looks good, and so does suede. Just make sure its not cheap looking. Don't get Uggs, and try not to get any boots with furry stuff on it (unless you live up north). What color? Depends on what you're going to wear and your style. Black and brown are always safe. Long boots can be worn over skinny jeans. If your jeans are boot-cut or flared, wear them over the boots. Wool skirts should be around knee-length, and the boots should be around skin length. You don't want to be totally covered. You can buy them almost anywhere, and the cost will vary. I'd go to shoe stores, like Aldo or Steve Madden. They're at the mall. Some catalogs, like Victoria's Secret, Delia's, and Alloy will also sell them. They're typically around $50 or more.

Where I am it it better to have the ones that go almost to your knee, not just mid calves. I like both leather and fabric, it depends on what you are wearing them with. If I had to choose a color I would have probably gotten black, but I own about 4 or 5 different pairs, so color wasn't an issue. If you were more greys/ blacks/pinks I would get the black boots, if you were other colors brown may be better. I buy all mine at Macys or Nine west. They ran me anywhere from 79 (on sale woohoo) to 199 dollars. So, it really just depends on what you want and are willing to spend.

Sweetie, if I have anything to do about it Mid-Calves will NEVER go out of style!! They are THE only foot accessory that, truly, does go with everything (given you have the right colors). Most obvious choice of colors would be the standard Black and Brown. But I like to get crazy sometimes, and have a litlle fun, so I like to add colors as well. Any colors that strike you as WOW. . . Remember, you are wearing the outfit, the outfit isn't wearing you. I wear my boots with everything!! The longer boots look really nice with knee length skirts, but they also can be worn with Jeans. (Tip: Save the wear and tear on the longer boots, and invest in a pair of boots that are apprx. 3/4 above your ankle, for jeans or pants. I don't usually like to spend too much money on anything really, so I wait until season change and I will hit up Robinson's May. I got a pair of Steve Madden Boots, in Black, just below the knee, reg. price $100 marked down to $10. You don't have to sacrifice quality for cost, it's all in what you are looking for and where you are looking it.
Feel free to contact me for further info. if needed. Good luck girl, and have fun!!!

Ariat are great boots, they make English styled boots but they are American. Aigle are also not English but French. I am not entirely sure if you are looking for an English make? but if you are, then I would suggest that You take a look at Regent as a manufacturer or Harry Hall. If however you want the best leather riding boots on the market then you need to look for German boots made by Schneider.

Yes, they are in.
I think faux-leather or faux-suede looks better than cloth.
If you want to be able to wear them with lots of things, I'd get black or brown.
They look adorable with jeans and skirts!
You can get them at any shoe store or you could by them online.
Price will depend on what kind and where you buy.

yes, they are in! especially with sky-high heels and a shaft that goes to mid-thigh. the only hitch with thigh-high boots is that you have to put on your jeans, step into your boots, push the jeans down down to the instep of the boots, then zip or lace up your boots, then pull your jeans up and button them.
black boots would be the most versatile....
