good answers so far...
fyi there arent a whole lot of english soldiers here, whether they are as crazy as us troops.... a soldier is a soldier
and, to the man who for the first time in his life is ashamed to be english... lets not play too innocent lest we forget the african conquests and the unjustified land dispersal after the fall of the ottoman empire..... anyway

1) Was well overdue and worthwhile. We're better off with Saddam gone, and so is the Middle East. If democratic representative government sprouts and takes root, the Middle East will be a bit safer place.

2) Great first step against the war on terror. A lot accomplished, but more could have been done.

3) I'm a vet and I support my military brethren whole heartedly.

The Iraq war, should have been sorted out 12 years ago, but politicians stoped the soldiers from doing thier job - a job sanctioned by the UN, and supported by a wide coalition of countries... George W. Bush should not have tried to finish daddys war! Its a almighty mess, an ileagal war, and i am for the first time in my life truly ashamed of being English, and having a goverment who sanctioned joining the US in such a stupid venture.

The War in Afghanistan, should have stopped the CIA from trying to arm the Taliban against the Russian's in the 80's. They (russia) were trying to do the same job, stop the production of herion flooding into Russia.. they were building hospitals, schols, and wham, America stuck its nose in - Uncle Sam wanted to give the Russians a 'vietnam'... Now we (UK) and the rest of the world have to help get back the weapons that America sent to a bunch of religious nuts. Thankfully we have the help of the US this time, but its a dirty rotten job and somebody has to do it.

The soldiers, doing what they are paid to do, and getting no help from the back-stabbing politicians or media. Be nice to get them home however.

The Iraq War: I feel misled and lied to, because I was really worried that they had WMD. As a Canadian, I'm glad Canada isn't involved.

Afghanistan: This is at least a justifiable war. the taliban were harboring Osama Bin Laden, who was responisble for 9/11, so why shouldn't they have gotten their asses kicked? Canada is involved in this one, and this year, our soldiers have taken a pounding. The most Canadian military casualties since Korea.

As far as the soldiers go, I have respect for most of them, but I did see a video of American soldiers on a tank teaching little Iraqi kids to say "**** Iraq!" There may be an abuse of power going on there. But I wish all of them safety, especially at this time of year.

(1) the iraqi war: illegal and immoral. a pre-planned attack with no plan for afterwards. a disaster for the US.

(2) afghanistan: a necessary war which bush also had plans on his desk for. the lack of soldiers committed meant that OBL wasn't caught. so, a failure.

(3) the soldiers: many are below average intelligence, have a feeling of superiority, perhaps, and have not been trained well enough to prevent them torturing and raping and murdering. this has been a PR disaster for the US. how come the British soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq have not behaved so badly (though not perfectly either)?

I support the soldiers and the war in Afghanistan wholeheartedly. The Iraq war was completely unnecessary and hasn't accomplished anything.
