The reason that value is so high is that most 1896-O silver dollars are in circulated grades, that is there is wear on the eagles breast and feathers as well as Liberty's hair above the ear and other places. I do think he wants to much for the coin does have a scratch or two. I think the value is closer to $6,000. I would need to see the coin to check for hairline scratches also. Your coin is only worth the value of its grade. In grade extremely fine it is only worth $24. you need to have your coin graded by a coin dealer or two or maybe there is a coin club near you and they will be glad to help you grade it.
