I'm really picky with chick-lit books because when the genre got popular, a lot of crap started coming out as well. :) I personally prefer British Chick-lit because I usually like the characters better.
I love Elizabeth Young.
She wrote "Asking for Trouble" which was made into the movie "The Wedding Date" starring Debra Messing. The book was lots better. She's also written "A Girl's Best Friend" and "A Promising Man (About Time, too)". Her main women are usually neurotic and flawed, which make her books extremely entertaining, especially since her main men always love the main women no matter how neurotic they are, nonetheless. :) Very feel-good.
You can also try Josie Lloyd & Emlyn Rees, who wrote "Come Together" together, and ended up getting married. If you liked "Come Together" you might like their other books as well.

If you have a passion for fiction...try Teresa Medeiros! So far I've read four of her novels this year and I am sorry I am just now discovering her writing. She weaves humor on her pages and the fiction is believable. A Very good one(among her others) is The Vampire Who Loved Me. But read After Midnight first. You won't regret it. ;)

Anything by Nicholas Sparks. He wrote the novel which the film A Walk to Remember was based on. ^_^
