i mean screen savers were made so as to protect primitive cathode ray tube monitors from getting damaged. are modern tft-lcd monitors also damaged in some way if they continue to display the same image for a long time?

With LCD monitors you don't have a threat of burn-in on the screen so you don't need a screen saver.

Not really. Screen savers were designed to prevent burn-in on CRT displays, which LCD monitors aren't affected by.

Although LCD monitors are less likely to "burn-in" like a CRT, they do have a limited bulb life. I don't believe that a screen saver is helpful except to lock you computer while you are away (if you set log-in to exit screen saver) but do set the monitor to go to low power mode in the power applet.

no matter what you run you can still rick burning the image to the screen after awhile.
