That's assuming of course that the actor is actually straight and not in the closet. :-)

I like to think i'm cool with homosexuality and seeing two good-looking guys make out is a fantasy of mine.

But nevertheless, watching an out gay actor play a married man or have a romantic scene with a women, just doesn't work for me and i don't know why.

Any thoughts?

Cause you are paying attention to the ACTOR and not the ACTING. I understand though, but sometimes you just got to get lost in the story and pretend that you do not know he is gay. Like I am STILL shocked that Will from Will and Grace is NOT gay, just because I get so caught up n the show I forget who's playing the part.

I think I know what you mean. I guess you just have to get past the actors actual sexuality and concentrate on the role he is playing. Did you ever watch the show Queer As Folk? There was a guy (Randy Harrison) on the show who played Justin, who's an out actor. He was incredible on the show but has also played straight roles in plays that he has done (as well as an independent film). He's an incredible actor period =)
There was an episode in season one where Justin does the deed with his best friend Daphne (she wants him to be her first). and it did seem kind of awkward to me the first time I saw it. But once I got past the fact that the actor is gay (became a fan of his, appreciative of his talent) and saw the scene again (I have the show on DVD) I was cool with it.

I guess its just something that you personally have to deal with just as I did. I also think once we stop putting people in categories based on who they sleep with it will get easier.
